It appears the Patriots have released linebacker Christian Kuntz on Tuesday after signing him on Monday. Kuntz, an FCS standout at Dusquene, was seen practicing with fellow undrafted signees Mikey Bart and Nick Usher on a side field during his first (and only) day in New England.
While the team didn't officially corroborate news of the release for a few hours, Kuntz's nameplate was gone from his locker when the team began practice Tuesday. Later that day, New England announced that the linebacker had been released to acquire linebacker Marquis Flowers from the Bengals:
While quick endings are a cold reality in the NFL, this is one of the quickest in recent memory. As PatsPulpit pointed out, Kuntz was simply buried on the depth chart behind more experienced players. Hopefully he can find a spot with another team before the regular season begins.
