Stephon Gilmore, Rex Burkhead will not play vs. Jets

The Patriots have just announced via the team's official Twitter account that cornerback Stephon Gilmore and running back Rex Burkhead will not play tomorrow versus the New York Jets.

Gilmore, who struggled mightily in his first four games as a Patriot but had a bounce-back performance in Week 5 against Tampa Bay, was listed with a concussion. Burkhead has been dealing with a persistent rib injury and has not played since Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints.

It remains to be seen whether or not cornerback Eric Rowe will play this week after being a surprise scratch against the Buccaneers. If he does, he will most likely share starting duties with Malcolm Butler, while Jonathan Jones will take reps out of the slot. Since the Pats have been playing without Burkhead for three weeks already, the backup plan there is fairly established: Mike Gillislee will handle early-down and goal-line work, with James White taking the lion's share of the passing work and Dion Lewis filling in on both sides.
