Pats worked out Lamar Jackson, "intrigued and impressed" by potential

Louisville Courier-Journal

According to Bleacher Report, the Patriots hosted quarterback prospect Lamar Jackson for a predraft visit and left "intrigued and impressed" by Jackson's potential. The Louisville passer seems to be one of the Patriots' primary QB targets in this draft, especially if he's available at the 23rd pick.

Jackson is firmly in the first-round conversation, but is also not regarded in the same tier as Josh Allen, Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, and Baker Mayfield at the top of the quarterback class. Questions, founded or not, about his schematic fit and ability to play from the pocket in the NFL have often overshadowed his ridiculous athletic talent.

With that in mind, it's especially interesting to hear the Patriots' interest in Jackson. If there's any mind that could create the perfect scheme for Jackson's strengths, it's Bill Belichick. And in Foxborough, Jackson would have the opportunity to learn behind Tom Brady and refine his skill set to eventually take over as the future of the franchise.

Catch the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft this Thursday night at 8 PM eastern to see where Jackson eventually lands.
