Julian Edelman suspension ruling could come as soon as next week
USA Today Sports
Julian Edelman had his suspension appeal hearing yesterday, and the session reportedly took up a large chunk of the day. After presenting his case saying the league mishandled his sample during testing and that NFL testers still don't know what he actually tested positive for, Edelman now has to wait and hope arbitrator Glenn Wong was sympathetic to his arguments. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, he might not have to wait long--Pelissero said that a ruling on whether the receiver's suspension will stand could come as soon as next week.
It will be interesting to see whether Edelman can successfully beat the case entirely. Historically speaking, it's fairly likely that he could work the ban down to one or two games, but full reversals for PED offenses have been few and far between. Then again, historically speaking Roger Goodell or a related league official have heard suspension appeals; the presence of a neutral arbitrator here might help Edelman buck that trend.
