Please Avoid the 16-0 Talk

Among the early story lines in the first few days of camp is whether the Patriots will go 16-0. The theory goes that with a wagon for an offense, an improved defense and a relatively easy schedule, everything sets up for another perfect regular season.

This conjecture is, of course, utterly plausible. Going undefeated again is entirely possible.

The question is, of course, whether you'd rather a repeat of 2007. And the answer to that is ... NO.

No busting out of the gates, hammering teams and, in hindsight, perhaps peaking too early. And no squeaking by in the playoffs and then the ultimate gut punch, a last second loss in the Super Bowl.

Nope. I'll take an efficient 13-3, or even 12-4 as long as you get the bye. Then the reverse of last February.

Someone just beat the Giants. If everything falls right and they end up in New Orleans, no one should want to see the Giants again.
