It could be worse, we could be Ravens fans

The Patriots not only had a disappointing loss to the Seahawks yesterday, but they lost some players too. Brandon Bolden went out with a knee injury, Chung - shoulder, Slater - leg, Brandon Lloyd - shoulder.

Not really any word on the severity of them, but I doubt any are season ending. That's more than you can say for the Baltimore Ravens.

Now, I'll get it out of the way. The Ravens losing two defensive studs (though its arguable on Lewis at this stage) is good for the Pariots because it weakens the top of the crop. But, the Patriots haven't exactly looked like world beaters either so there's no way anyone can think the Ravens getting weaker means the Pats are a lock for anything.

Really the most important story here is that, one would expect, this was Ray Lewis' last season in the NFL. It would be hard to imagine him coming back from a major injury at his age. It's possible he might return in a limited role - a la Kevin Faulk last year - but I'd say it's likely he's done.

Lewis might've been on a rival team but there's no denying he was one of the most exciting players in the NFL. His scary, over the top personality certainly stood out.

It's really hard for me to imagine the NFL without Ray Lewis. While he wasn't the best defensive player on that team anymore, he was certainly the leader. I really wonder what happens to that emotional Ravens team after losing someone like Lewis.

I may have grown to dislike the Ravens, but I've enjoyed the slight rivalry that's developed between the two teams. Facing Baltimore without Ray Lewis, it just won't feel the same.
