Report: Chandler Jones and Logan Mankins will play Monday Night

A terrific sign for Patriots fans, as there's a report that the Patriots could get their best pass rusher and best offensive lineman back for Monday's game. To face their toughest opponent yet, the Houston Texans.

WEEI:
After being spotted at Patriots practice for a second straight day, and barring any late setbacks, Logan Mankins and Chandler Jones will be ready to play Monday night when the Patriots host the Texans at Gillette Stadium, according to a report by CSNNE's Mike Giardi.

Giardi tweeted Thursday, being told Logan Mankins will play Monday, barring a setback. Pats plan all along. He'll join Chandler Jones.

Neither Logan Mankins or Chandler Jones had practiced before this week since suffering their injuries. Mankins was hurt in Week 10 vs Buffalo and Jones in Week 11. They each returned to practice for the first time yesterday.

As we've seen countless times this year, practicing is no guarantee of playing. Aaron Hernandez practiced entire weeks a couple of times and didn't play. However, some practice is better than no practice and this latest report can get you feeling real good about things, Patriots fans.

I touched on the importance of Logan Mankins yesterday but how about Chandler Jones? The team has fared well defensively without him, but that's not to underestimate his importance. They'll face some of their biggest tests the next couple weeks and will need all hands on deck if the team expects to come out with a sweep.

Sound off in the comments about the impact Chandler Jones' return could make.
