The Jets bring back Braylon Edwards, a week after he called them idiots

Here is the awkward timeline of the recent Braylon Edwards saga. The receiver who's played for four different teams in the last four years.

Amid all of the debate in the media as to whether Mark Sanchez or Greg McElroy should start last week, Edwards - then with the Seahawks - came out with some choice words for his former team, the New York Jets.

Yeah, that's a direct shot at coach Rex Ryan, GM Mike Tannenbaum and owner Woody Johnson. To Braylon's point he's half right. Those guys are probably idiots. However, I think you can still put all the blame on Sanchez you want.

Maybe then realizing he just caused a frenzy in the media, Braylon Edwards retracted his statement. Also he might've had a feeling he didn't have much time left with the Seahawks and needed to be nice in order to find a home.

The ploy worked, because after the Seahawks waived Edwards the desperate Jets picked him up anyway. The Jets have basically nothing at the receiver position right now. Mark Sanchez isn't a great quarterback, but after Santonio Holmes went down early in the year he has no one to throw to and that doesn't really help.

Edwards wasn't able to contribute much on the Seahawks (eight catches), but he'll get a second shot with his former team.

Edwards had an OK season with the Jets in his one full year in 2010. He had 53 catches for 904 yards and seven touchdowns. It was his best season in the last five.

Believe it or not, the Jets still have a shot to make the playoffs. Will Braylon Edwards be enough to push them over the edge to making the post-season and getting eliminated immediately?

No.
