Chandler Jones going to try to play, Rob Gronkowski hits IR

Here's two tweets of note from today.

Chandler Jones injured his ankle early in the game against the Houston Texans game and did not return. Jones also injured his ankle earlier in the year against the Colts. He ended up missing two weeks in that instance, but this time he hopes to return much sooner.

Jones has been at practice every day this week so far, and if he's not a liability, I'd expect Belichick to put him out there. It was not uncommon earlier in the year for injured players to practice all week and then be inactive for the game (see: Alfonzo Dennard, Aqib Talib, Aaron Hernandez, Rob Gronkowski). Still, the stakes are much higher this time around and the team needs Chandler Jones more than ever. It's still a big blow that this team won't be getting the Jones they got the first half of the season.

In other injury related news, things just became official with Rob Gronkowski. Gronk missed the last quarter of the season due to a broken forearm. He returned in Week 17 and broke that same arm in a different place very early on against the Texans.

As expected, he's out for the year.

Can the Patriots overcome the loss of both Rob Gronkowski and Chandler Jones? They've done it before, but the competition is at its biggest this week.
