Rookie Review: Brandon Bolden

Continuing Patriots Life's look at the New England Patriots rookie class of 2012, we shift focus from the first draft pick Chandler Jones, to an undrafted rookie, Brandon Bolden.

Bolden went undrafted, despite being rated as "worth a 4th round pick" on nfl.com. He fell out of the draft presumably due to his character issues, having previously been suspended in college. And although these issues did resurface, in the form of a 4 match ban for use of Adderall, he was still a very good option for the Patriots offense.

He slotted in to the Patriots new look running back rotation as a ground and pound runner, and contributed a sizable 274 yards and 2 TDs in 10 games. His highlight of the year was in week 4 at the Buffalo Bills, where he ran for 137 yards and 1 touchdown, a performance which earned him FedEx's Ground Player of the Week award. He followed this with 54 yards against the Denver Broncos.

His opportunities were severely  limited after his ban for obvious reasons. But after being in Bill Belichick's dog house for a while, hopefully a new season will mean a new start. And with the potential departure of Danny Woodhead in free agency, his role in the team should develop.
