Kansas City Chiefs Sign Bowe to 5 Year Deal

I’m unhappy to report that up and coming free agent Dwayne Bowe will not be in a Patriots uniform next season. I have been singing Bowe’s praises hoping, for once, that the Patriots would make a big time move in free agency. Of course Dwayne Bowe was extended 5 years today by the Chiefs before he ever hit free agency, but it still stings.

A player like Dwayne Bowe would have given this offense an entirely new element because he’s big and strong and can stretch the field. I’ll stop torturing you all (as well as myself) and just say that Bowe was extended 5 years and the contract specifics were not released.

Bowe ranked in the top 5 of almost every receiving category and is a great piece to build around. If the Kansas City Chiefs can find a couple good run-stopping linemen, they have the ability to be a scary team. They had the number 5th ranked rush attack with Jamaal Charles and just picked up Alex Smith in a trade. The Chiefs ranked 12th in passing defense so they are only a few pieces away from something pretty special.

The Chiefs have some good young players and can rise to playoff contention sooner than anyone imagined and stay there for years to come. Too bad all these pieces weren’t in place for Romeo Crennel, but instead for that weasel Andy Reid. The Chiefs could prove to be one less automatic win for the Patriots over the next few years; good for Chiefs fans, I’m actually happy for them.
