Patriots "have some interest" in WR Mike Wallace
Before we get too crazy, NFL.com's Marc Sessler made it very clear that there is a difference between 'interest' and actually making moves to acquire a player. Anyways, an NFL source recently said that the Patriots "have some interest" in the top free-agent WR Mike Wallace.
Sam Reilly wrote a convincing argument as to why the Patriots need a guy like Wallace. With his top-notch speed, he can finally be the vertical threat that the team has been desperate for since they shipped Randy Moss out of town. Pairing that with Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez and potentially Danny Amendola would cause migraines for opposing defensive coordinators.
This is also assuming Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd will be gone, as there will be no money left to pay Welker or interest in keeping Lloyd. Now, there are plenty of factors that will go into making this work. For instance, do you really think the Patriots will dish out the big money that Wallace is looking for? It really is doubtful. However, Belichick and his master plan never ceases to amaze (or surprise). Just ask Lawyer Milloy.
