Hoomanawanui Signing; Signs Welker's Out?

Patriots make a small tender to restricted free agent tight end Michael Hoomanawanui. The deal pays only 1.3 million for 2013 and offers the Patriots an upside at tight end if injuries occur.

Some reports have Hernandez moving close to Brady to "learn the slot position" in the case Welker goes elsewhere. Hernandez moving to slot would free up a tight end spot for Michael Hoomanawanui. Side Note: Don't forget the Patriots are still sitting on tight end Jake Ballard from the New York Giants.
