DeAndre Hopkins: so close yet so far?

Since the NFL Draft talks have begun, Clemson WR DeAndre Hopkins seems to have been closely associated with the Patriots. The junior WR's stock has fluctuated, moving up and down all the different analysts mock draft boards. There is no doubt that the Patriots NEED another wide receiver and will most likely address this need in the draft. The question is, will DeAndre Hopkins be available?

Early on, I wrote an article about Mel Kiper Jr's first mock draft, and how he had the Patriots picking Hopkins with the 29th overall pick. Now, mock drafts change constantly and in the end they are exactly what their name says; a mock. However, the more I looked at Hopkins' profile, the more I wanted him to end up with the Pats. Take a look

The problem is, many scouts believe that he could be picked up in the early 20's of the first round. So close to being available to the Pats, but it could all be for nothing. It doesn't matter if he is draft 8th or 28th, as long as he is drafted by another team then the Patriots wide receiver needs will continue to be an issue. Will the Patriots even draft him if he is available? WHO KNOWS... But, there's no problem with Patriots fans getting our hopes up only to be shocked come draft day, this is second nature to us.
