Alfonzo Dennard carted off field with shoulder injury at OTAs + other injuries


The injuries keep piling up for the Patriots, and the season hasn't even started yet. To make matters worse, the injuries keep happening to significant players.

The latest appears to be Alfonzo Dennard, who suffered what sounds like a serious shoulder injury at OTAs today. The media reports that he was carted off the field.


If Dennard is to miss any significant time that obviously has a huge negative trickle effect for the Patriots. One of the most positive things to take away from Aqib Talib coming back was that the Patriots would be returning their two starting corners from the previous year for the first time in a long time. That chemistry that comes from being on the field together as a unit was something that was obviously missing in the early parts of seasons past.

If Dennard is out, that likely puts either Kyle Arrington or Ras-I Dowling as next in line. The Patriots also have third round pick Logan Ryan as well as Devin McCourty, who could move back to corner as he did at the end of last year with both Dennard and Talib out.

Unfortunately, Dennard was not the only one to suffer injuries, both Stevan Ridley and Jake Ballard got dinged up at OTAs today.


No word on how serious any of these appear to be. The fact that Dennard was carted off is obviously the most alarming.

Hopefully he will be OK, because the Patriots need him in his sophomore year.
