Thank God the Patriots' Coach is not Bruce Arians

There are not too many stories today, so when this one came out of Arizona, I was thankful. Thankful that Bruce Arians does not coach the New England Patriots. When Bruce Arians was asked why his pre-practice warm up did not include stretching, he responded with the following:

"If a guy starts chasing you with a gun, you're not going to stretch," said Coach Arians to Kent Somers of azcentralsports.com.

The heat in Arizona must have made Coach Arians permanently delusional, so much so that he thinks he is leading a police academy or army brigade. I am not denying the truth in his comment, because I am sure if a guy started chasing me with a gun I would not stretch before bolting for my life. However, Bruce Arians is a football coach. He should be preparing these guys for football games. He does not seem to understand that one of the luxuries of being a professional athlete who competes in organized competition is that you get to stretch beforehand.

Arians is disregarding all of the studies about the benefits of stretching and warming up properly (although Jim Harbaugh is not). How backwards is this guy in his everyday life? He has to be the same guy who cringes when he sees an interracial couple, right?
