Tim Tebow to play Quarterback, details on his contract
Expect to hear the word "Tebow" a lot over the next few days.
The Patriots just made the Tebow signing official and Adam Schefter had details on the contract he signed.
Tim Tebow signed a two-year contract with the Patriots that included no guaranteed money.

Patriots did not sign Tim Tebow to play RB nor TE. They signed him to play QB. Backup QB. Tom Brady will not lose a play.

No word on the money, but I would be surprised if it's anything significant. Nothing is guaranteed which means Tebow could just be a glorified camp body that won't make final cuts out of training camp.
Many fans are probably disappointed that Tebow will be the third string quarterback and not a tight end or running back. They shouldn't be though. Tebow probably won't see the field, but that doesn't mean he can't make an impact.
One point I haven't heard about Tebow is that he could have some value to the Patriots in a non-gameday capacity. The "read-option" is the current trend in the NFL and who better to help the Patriots prepare for that than Tim Tebow?
Geno Smith could likely be the Jets starting quarterback at some point this season, E.J. Manuel was drafted by the Bills and the Patriots will play Cam Newton and Carolina this season. That's five potential games next season where the Pats could see some form of the read-option or at least a mobile quarterback.
That's at least how I'm trying to rationalize this move...
