Adrian Wilson placed on Injured Reserve

This move had the writing on the wall for awhile, as Adrian Wilson had been placed on Injured Reserve. Which is just a more merciful way of cutting him.

The veteran was perhaps the biggest free-agent signing by the Patriots in the off-season. However, as he showed in his final year in Arizona, he struggled in coverage. He looked a bit slow as well, as the once hard-hitting safety was not tackling as well.

It became obvious that Wilson might not stick on this team when he was playing into the third quarter of the team's final preseason game. A sign that the player is viewed as low on the depth chart.



Wilson was apparently dealing with a hamstring injury. That's usually not severe enough to land a player on injured reserve. The move is likely out of respect for the veteran, earning him his salary instead of cutting him outright.

In addition to Wilson, linebacker Jeff Tarpinian was released. Tarpinian has bounced around on the roster the last couple of years, primarily playing special teams
