Belichick: Amendola is 'very dependable'

New Patriots WR Danny Amendola is making quite a splash at training camp. For anybody who has had the chance to go to Foxboro and watch one of the team's open practices, you most likely noticed how Amendola sticks out in the crowd. Not based on his size or stature, but #80 is fast... real fast. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how quickly he could move his feet and make cuts in the blink of an eye.

Of course, the league is full of players with quick feet, agility and speed, but Amendola seems to be gaining the respect and admiration of those around him. Head coach Bill Belichick mentioned that it is easy to see how prevalent Amendola's veteran experience is:
"He's become a very dependable player for us. He doesn't make many mental errors. He's a guy who is usually in the right spot and has a good understanding of defenses and what he's supposed to do. You can tell he's been in the league for four years."
Physical ability and skill mean nothing if you can't pick up on the Patriots' complex offense, just ask Chad Johnson. For Amendola to become Tom Brady's next favorite target (as we all hope/expect him to be), he needs to own and understand this offense inside and out. By the looks of things, he is on the right track. Lets hope his chemistry with Brady keeps on developing.
