Wes Welker injured in Bronco's loss to Seahawks

One of the main questions going into this season for the New England Patriots is whether or not Danny Amendola can replicate or exceed the production of Wes Welker. There is little doubt he has the ability to do so, but over the course of his career to this point, he has not demonstrated the durability Welker exemplified during his tenure in New England.

But now the script has flipped, as Welker will apparently be sidelined (for how long is not yet known) with an ankle injury he suffered while catching a touchdown pass from Peyton Manning during the 40-10 beatdown the Bronco's received from the Seahawks last night. The Broncos are reporting Welker suffered a right ankle sprain, but no information has been released regarding how long he will be out.

It was a tough all-around night for the Patriot's AFC rival. Not only did they get crushed by the explosive Seahawks, they lost Welker and a number of other players to injury. According to NFL.com , cornerback Champ Bailey (foot) and guard Louis Vasquez (knee) were also hurt. The article also states that Bailey's injury is considered to be the most serious of the three.

Amendola has been all the Patriots could have hoped for, and more, so far this off-season. If he can stay healthy, which has been his biggest issue, there is little reason why he cannot match or exceed some of Welker's best season totals.

While watching Welker catch touchdowns from Peyton is undoubtedly going to be tough to watch for Patriots fans, 26-yard darts from Brady to DA will certainly help ease the pain.
