EJ Manuel returns to practice for Bills

So it may not be "Tuel Time" after all. The Patriot's week one visit to Buffalo was looking more and more like a lay-up when it was announced Jeff Tuel, and undrafted free agent out of Washington State, would be the starting quarterback.

Even during his senior year, Tuel didn't exactly shine, throwing 8 TD's and 8 interceptions. So even for a Patriots defense that still has a lot to prove, week one in Buffalo was looking like a pretty surefire W to kick of the year, especially with news coming that star safety Jairus Byrd is struggling with an injury as well.

But it is being reported today that rookie QB EJ Manuel has returned to practice, after undergoing a minor knee procedure in the third week of the preseason, and there is some optimism he could play in Week 1. Manuel looked very good in the games he played in, demonstrating many of the traits that led the Bills to draft him with the 16th pick in the draft.

The Patriots will definitely be faced with a more talented quarterback in Manuel should he start week one. He is a mobile quarterback who can evade pressure and cause breakdowns in the secondary. Week 1 at Buffalo is a game the Patriots should win, regardless of who is playing quarterback from the Bills. But it would have been a lot easier if it was in fact "Tuel Time."
