Life without Vince Wilfork

On the first drive of tonight's game against the Falcons, Vince Wilfork went down with an ankle injury and was questionable to return all night(he never did).

If Wilfork misses extended time, the man who replaced him tonight, Joe Vellano, could fill the role extensively. Vellano was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Maryland and made the roster out of training camp. He played well in Wilfork's absence and made his first career sack in a big situation late in the first half.

Tommy Kelly has played well this year on the inside and Chandler Jones has even moved inside at times so I don't think they will hit the free agent market. That also depends on how long Wilfork will be out.

Some names still without teams the Patriots could go after are Richard Seymour and Sione Pouha. If they have any sufficient candidates, the team could also go to their practice squad for help. If he does miss substantial time Patriots fans should be worried about the run defense. No one clogs holes and closes running lanes like big Vince. Once there is a medical report on Wilfork a lot of these questions will be answered. @joeloobs @PatriotsLife
