Mike Wallace Upset With Dolphins Coaches After Win

Well, it's a good thing no one could have seen this coming.

Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace was visibly frustrated following a quiet day in his Dolphins debut. Constant double coverage limited the speedy receiver, who signed a $60 million contract this offseason, to one catch for 15 yards in the Dolphins 23-10 victory over the Browns.

After the game, the pouting Wallace was escorted off the field by his general manager Jeff Ireland. Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald recorded this exchange with the prize free agent acquisition.

Can I walk with you, I asked?
“I don’t feel like talking,” Wallace grumbled.
Can you talk about the game?
“I don’t want to talk,” he answered.
Another reporter joined us and asked, “Can you talk about the game plan?”
“I don’t feel like talking about it. Ask coach.”
As he was walking away, Wallace was asked about the lack of targets in the first half.
“Ask coach,” he said. “It’s not my game plan.”
Another question: In the second half they threw to you right away. Was something said at halftime?
“Ask coach.”
Seems like Wallace had little appreciation for opening the season with a win. Or the fact that the attention payed to him opened things up for teammates Brian Hartline (9 catches for 114 yards and a touchdown) and Brandon Gibson (7 catches for 77 yards).

Quarterback Ryan Tannenhill did his best to defuse the situation, focusing on the amount of defensive attention payed to Wallace.

"I think they did a lot of things to take [Wallace] away. They clouded him and put a guy over the top. It’s frustrating for him and our offense, as well. We want to give him the ball, and he’s going to play a big factor in this offense the rest of the year. Today just wasn’t the day for him.”
Despite those words, and despite the win, things seem slightly turbulent with our division rivals down south. Hopefully Wallace continues to be a pain in the ass, because the Patriots offense is losing playmakers right and left to injuries already.
