Report: Goldson Could Be Suspended for Week 3 Matchup With Pats

This could turn into a nice break for the Pats.

Goldson, who signed a five year, $41.25 million contract to join the Bucs this offseason, is known as one of the hardest hitters in the NFL. This has earned him a reputation as an enforcer and playmaker, but also notoriety within the league office. Goldson has racked up 13 personal foul penalties since 2010 (including two in as many weeks this year) and over $70,000 in fines just last year.

Interestingly enough, Goldson visited the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent in 2011. He wound up leaving Foxboro without signing a contract, opting to return to San Francisco that year on a one year deal. He would go on to make the next two Pro Bowls.

The Patriots group of young receivers have struggled mightily early on and need any break they can get. The potential absence of Goldson's menacing presence patrolling the middle of the field can only benefit the struggling Patriots offense.
