Austin Collie signs with Patriots

The Patriots receiving corps has come under a lot of fire in the beginning of the season. Certainly, alot of that has subsided over the last two weeks when it finally seemed like the rookies were coming around.

That hasn't stopped the Pats from signing a veteran to add to the young group.

The Patriots have signed veteran WR Austin Collie, according to a league source.

This might speak more to the injury status of Aaron Dobson than anything else. Dobson sustained a neck injury in the win over the Falcons and his status is not yet clear for the Bengals game.

A former Colt, Collie spent training camp with the 49ers before being released. The fact that a wide receiver needy team like the Niners let go of Collie isn't the best sign. The receiver has struggled with injuries in his career after numerous head injuries, one more could be devastating and would certainly be career ending.
