Can the Patriots trade for Jared Allen?

This afternoon (or possibly morning) reports surfaced about Jared Allen not pursing free agency, and instead, being inclined to be traded before the league mandated deadline on Tuesday at 4 EST.

It has been reported that the Vikings would take nothing less than a 3rd round draft pick to let go of Jared Allen. So this begs the question, with no Wilfork and a banged up defensive line. Should the Patriots be open to trade Jared Allen? He is a proven all-star, sack artist and is still not too old as he is 31 this season and even though the Patriots just recently reacquired Andre Carter, Allen would provide a nice option against faster teams so you'll always have fresh bodies rushing the quarterback.

The value isn't too bad for a player who has that kind of ceiling. Leave us an answer in the comments or on Twitter @PatriotsLife if you would like to see the Patriots pursue Jared Allen.
