Logan Mankins says the offense let the team down

The Patriots offense had a terrible outing against the Cincinnatti Bengals. Their defense picked up their end, and gave the Patriots several great opportunities late to take the game. However, the Pats couldn't muster anything - failing to get in the endzone.

Yesterday, Pro Bowl guard Logan Mankins acknowledged that the offense bears the blame for the team's first loss.

“The offense, I feel, we let the team down today,” Mankins said on CSNNE. “We didn’t score enough points. Six points is never going to cut it. Offensively, we have to play a lot better.”

Mankins' unit was part of the problem, allowing consistent pressure by the Bengals talented defensive line. Certainly most of the credit goes to a stout Bengals defense, led by Geno Atkins, but the Bengals were missing both DE Michael Johnson and CB Leon Hall, weaknesses the Patriots couldn't exploit.
