Matthew Slater scolds Logan Ryan for crotch grab, league fines him $10,000

Rookie Logan Ryan was pretty excited about his pick six against the Jets. So excited that he threw in a crotch grab in the endzone.

While hilarious to Patriots fans, it was not so much to Ryan's teammates.

Boston Herald:
“I don’t want to get into too much detail talking about that, but there are certain things that come over the season that we have to handle in-house, and I think that’s one of those things,” special teams captain Matthew Slater said yesterday when asked about Ryan’s ill-advised celebration. “He’s a great kid, and he’s been nothing but respectful since he’s gotten here. That’s something we just have to handle in-house.”

Hearing the message loud and clear, rookie Logan Ryan apologized his actions.

NationalFootballPost:
"First off, I just want to apologize to all the fans and all the viewers who had to witness that," Ryan told Boston reporters. "I own up to it 100 percent. It's not acceptable. It's not acceptable for me and this team. I want to put it behind me and I want to move on, and focus on Miami, and let people know it won't happen again. That's not who I am."

Ryan's interception came in the first quarter of the game and brought the team up by a score and swung momentum their way. The team would hold the Jets to a field goal the rest of the half and then score a touchdown themselves. Things didn't work out so well in that second half as the team fell 30-27 in overtime.

Still, an apology won't help Ryan in the league office, who made him pay for the gesture today.
