Troy Brown: Pats offense was confused

This week's offense performance by Tom Brady and the Patriots offense was one that we would all like to forget. However, with the week after a loss always feeling a lot longer, there is plenty of time for team to feel the heat. Former Patriot and fan-favorite Troy Brown gave his take on the loss during a CSNNE broadcast:
“You can’t really look at the past few weeks because I thought they were getting better but then this week they saw a different type of defense from the Cincinnati Bengals,” Brown said. “They played a swarming defense where they got in these receivers’ face. They played some press coverage and mixed things up a little bit here and there and kept them confused the entire game.”

Whether they were confused or not, the offense simply did not get the job done. With Brady at the helm, the passing game struggled to find a groove while the running game had its issues as well. A less than 50% completion percentage is something that we very rarely see from Brady; he was 18-for-38 with 166 yards and 1 interception.

The weather obviously was another factor as the skies opened up unfortunately right as the Pats were going for a game-tying drive. Brown brings up a good point though, as the Bengals' physical secondary clearly got the better of Brady's group. The physicality, confusion of schemes and bad weather seemed to come together all in one during this game where the Patriots simply could not do anything with the football.
