Brady was the lone Patriot to recruit Ed Reed

The Ed Reed situation has now been resolved as the veteran safety was signed by the New York Jets. Though the Jets clearly were all-in on the idea of signing Reed, it was the Patriots that many analysts speculated to sign him. Head coach Bill Belichick is known to credit Reed as one if not the greatest safety of all time. However, according to CBSSports.com, it was quarterback Tom Brady who tried to recruit Reed.

Apparently Tom Brady sent Reed a text message saying that the All-Pro should 'stop playing against New England, and start playing for them'. With Brady recruiting Reed, it is hard to imagine that the veteran was not intrigued by the idea of playing for the Patriots. Without much interest from the team itself (even Belichick) though, signs simply did not point towards Reed coming to Foxboro. Instead of playing for New England, he will now be playing against them twice as often as a division rival.
