Tedy Bruschi in favor of playoff expansion

In an ESPN article written by Tedy Bruschi titled, "A Memo to the Commish", the Patriot legend supported the idea of an expanded playoff format. Bruschi formatted the piece as a direct letter to Roger Goodell and voiced his concerns about the possibility of the change.
I like the idea of playoff expansion. But I was concerned when I read further and learned that part of the proposal would give just the top seed in each conference a first-round bye.
Goodell has spoken at length of the possibility and seemingly agrees with Tedy. The first time he spoke about the possibility Goodell said:
"How do we continue to make sure the regular-season games are incredibly important each week, but also, how can we create more interest, and does expanding the postseason allow other teams to get into the dance with the potential of going on and winning the Super Bowl?"
Bruschi's concern stemmed from the power that would be given to the number of teams given a first round bye, and his solution:
If the NFL is serious about expanding, I think it would be better to add two more teams in each conference. Then you have everyone play on the opening weekend, similar to what we see in the NBA and NHL.
Personally, I am in favor of more teams making the playoffs. It would make the regular season more exciting as a whole and it would mean a flurry of exciting games in the last few weeks of the season. @joeloobs @PatriotsLife
