Who's the punter?

It's simply a question that many Patriots fans didn't think will be asked come the week prior to the AFC Championship game, but it's true. After a bad snap, Ryan Allen was given a bit more attention than he normally is used to. We still have no status update on Allen's injury.

CSNNE:
Bill Belichick spoke with WEEI's Salk and Holley Show on Monday and said that the team had not yet determined Allen's status for the AFC title game this weekend.

"We'll see where Ryan's at and just take stock of everything here in the next day or so," Belichick said, "and try to do what we feel like is best. I'm not sure what that is."
While Ryan Allen is questionable, Zoltan Mesko is sitting at home (or in Key West as his latest Tweet
adds to the lure that is Zoltan Mesko) as his Bengals are out of the playoffs and according to Mesko's official Twitter account, Mesko is chomping at the bit to play for New England.

(To read more on the Mesko story, one of our other writers Joshua Powers, wrote a great piece on the story which can be viewed here.)

And just to add to the story here, the Patriots worked out another punter earlier in the season by the name of Shawn Powell.

Breaking down their career numbers:

Allen: 76 punts, 45.9 avg, career long: 65 yards.
Mesko: 209 punts, 43.9 avg, career long: 65 yards.
Powell: 107 punts, 44.3 avg, career long: 66 yards.
