Pittsburgh will let Emmanuel Sanders test the market

According to MassLive, the Pittsburgh Steelers will let wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders test the open market. The Steelers may be playing things close to the chest, but should the Steelers not re-sign him, the Patriots could target Sanders. The Patriots had Sanders signed to an offer sheet last offseason, which was matched by Pittsburgh. Sanders had 67 receptions for 740 yards and 6 touchdowns, which isn't a bad year by any means, but it wasn't the breakout year some expected after Mike Wallace left for Miami.

In our Call to Arms series, we profiled Emmanuel Sanders as a possible fit for the Patriots as a possible slot receiver, as that's one of his strong points - short completions and getting yards after the catch. If the Patriots could sign him, he could be a reliable target for Tom Brady, especially if they end up having to let Julian Edelman or Danny Amendola walk. Even better, if they get him to play with Edelman, then I think that could be a great combination. Edelman is primarily a slot receiver also, but both guys could are versatile, and Sanders especially has the speed to be a threat down field.
