Browner on joining the Patriots: "My goal is to win the big one"

Brandon Browner is a large and feared defensive back that is known for his big hits and playmaking ability. His absence from the Seattle Seahawks due to suspension probably should have caused a missed beat by the defense in their run for the Super Bowl. That was not the case though, as the defensive unit, without Browner, paved the way for a Super Bowl massacre over the high-powered Denver Broncos and the greatest statistical offense of all time. Brandon Browner was happy for his team, but watching from his couch at home hurt a bit:
“It was tough to watch my guys out there go get it,” Browner said Monday during a conference call with the media. “But at the same time, I also enjoyed it as well. It seemed like they had a good beat on Peyton Manning and those guys. They played a little faster than the Broncos did, so it was exciting to see those guys playing like we play ball. It almost looked like a glorified practice, so to say.”

There is no doubt that a competitor like Browner felt a sting when he watched his team play and then celebrate without him. Receiving his Super Bowl ring will be sweet, but it would be sweeter if he was a key contributor in that jaw-dropping defensive performance. As Browner went on to say, this partially motivated him to come to New England and play with the Patriots:
“The organization, first class,” Browner said of the Patriots. “I watched them win multiple Super Bowls. They always have the chance to compete to get to the big one. Leaving an organization like Seattle, growing up and up and coming, it was only right for me to come over to New England and have a shot at playing in the big one. My goal is to win the big one. That’s why that was part of my decision to come to New England.”

Browner will get the shot that he wants, as he is signed up for the next 3 years in New England. With Darrelle Revis as the clear #1 defensive back, Browner will have to compete with Kyle Arrington and Alfonzo Dennard for the pivotal #2 spot. It is hard to imagine that Browner won't win the position though, as Arrington and Dennard have been inconsistent despite their flashes of greatness. The year-after-year postseason appearances by the Patriots will give Browner the chance for postseason glory that he is eager to take on.
