The Seahawks, who already have the best defense in the NFL, would be pairing Allen with Michael Bennett, who they re-signed earlier this week. The Bears had to cut ties with Julius Peppers, and would be looking to replace him with Allen, who recorded 11.5 sacks last year with the Vikings, his sixth consecutive season with double digit sacks.

The 33-year old defensive end has been a name mentioned as someone who would be worth an investment for the Patriots, who struggled to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks last season in key spots, despite overall solid play from Chandler Jones and Rob Ninkovich.

As of this hour, it looks like that is unlikely to happen, as Allen negotiates with two NFC powers.
