Alfonzo Dennard is out of jail

Adrian Wilson wasn't the only Patriot to get released yesterday.

According to ESPNBoston, Dennard has been released from the Lancaster, Nebraska detention center where he was serving a 60 day sentence for violating his probation. The cornerback wound up serving 35 days of a maximum 60 day sentence.

Dennard's legal troubles stem from the incident that caused him to fall to the Patriots in the seventh round of the 2012 draft: a felony assault charge for punching an undercover police officer during a bar fight. Dennard managed to avoid jail time for that charge, but his arrest for suspicion of DUI last summer (under some fishy circumstances) landed him hard time as a violation of his probation.

Now that he's out, Dennard will have to be hard at work. With Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner added to the lineup this offseason, he'll presumably be competing with Kyle Arrington and Logan Ryan for snaps behind those two (although it's been rumored that Ryan could get a look at safety too). He'll also be competing to retain his starting spot, at least for the first four games while Browner is suspended.
