Alfonzo Dennard preps his cousin on NFL life

It seems current Patriots corner Alfonzo Dennard is giving his cousin, Michigan State cornerback Darqueze Dennard, some pointers going into the NFL draft process:
“He just told me to continue doing what I’ve been doing. I haven’t been in any trouble or anything like that, so he just told me to keep my nose clean.”

So Alfonzo's message was stay out of trouble and keep a clean profile off the field. Ironic. You know, since Alfonzo was arrested a week prior to the 2012 draft for assaulting a police officer in Nebraska, then was arrested again in July for suspicion of driving under the influence, and served 38 days in jail, which he recently just completed. Maybe you should have listened to your own advice there Alfonzo.

But nevertheless, it is good advice and both Dennards would do well to pay attention to it.

Alfonzo also lent a hand in teaching Darqueze how to watch film and attack opponents:
“Before the season, I was asking how you watch film, what you look for, what you think of this receiver or how you’d handle him. I ask, ‘What do you see? What can I do to help my game?’ Just telling me to be a student of the game. Get into the film and dedicate yourself to the grind with all of the little things.”

Darqueze is expected to be a top prospect and many drafts have him going anywhere from 15 to mid 20s. Before this offseason I would say if he dropped to 29 he'd be a great addition. But with a roster now stacked with corners, I think we could pass on him, even if he's Alfonzo's cousin and knows to stay out of trouble.
