Aaron Hernandez indicted for July 2012 double homicide

The Aaron Hernandez story got crazier and crazier as it went on.

We first heard reports of him shooting a man in the face in Florida. Dismissed it. Then, he got arrested for murdering Odin Lloyd. Then he was linked to a Boston double homicide in July 2012, just before Patriots training camp.

Now he's been indicted for that.

So, basically, Hernandez is pretty screwed here. One theory floating around was that the recent Odin Lloyd murder from last year was linked to this double homicide. Perhaps Lloyd had knowledge of it and so that was why he was killed. Your classic Macbeth situation.

As Patriots fans you may be thinking... why should we care anymore? Let's move on, he's not on the team anymore.

Here is the reason why Patriots fans should care.

The Patriots are trying to recoup that substantial amount of money they owe to Hernandez, and are quite cap restricted because of it. Of course, that $7 million above for this year isn't going anywhere, but it's an example of the kind of cash they've been shelling out for nothing. They could ultimately end up saving $3.5 million in dead money if they succeed, which is still a big help.

So, this is a big deal in not only justice for the murders, but from a football perspective, it gives the Pats better leverage for not having to pay a murderer millions of dollars.
