Dolphins fine and suspend Don Jones for negative tweets towards Michael Sam

The St. Louis Rams made history when they drafted openly gay pass rusher Michael Sam in the seventh round. Not only that, the NFL channel and ESPN made history when they showed Michael Sam receiving his phone call, crying, and then kissing his boyfriend.

Now for me personally, this is all great to see. I love seeing the sports world becoming more accepting of homosexuality and being able to not only encourage players coming out but also showing a reaction that every drafted player has with their significant other. I was really happy to see that.

But alas, the assholes of the world were not pleased to see the kiss seen round the world. Dolphins safety Don Jones tweeted out ‘OMG’ when Sam kissed his boyfriend, then followed that up with ‘horrible’.

The Dolphins and the NFL had none of this as Jones was fined and suspended immediately with Joe Philbin already making a statement about this:
“We were disappointed to read Don’s tweets during the NFL Draft. They were inappropriate and unacceptable, and we regret the negative impact these comments had on such an important weekend for the NFL. We met with Don today about respect, discrimination and judgment. These comments are not consistent with the values and standards of our program. We will continue to emphasize and educate our players that these statements will not be tolerated.”

Happy to see the NFL will not tolerate any of this shit. Don Jones, you deserve every second of this for being, as you so lovingly put it, horrible.
