Jeff Demps, Silver medalist to Bench warmer

Former USA olympic silver medalist Jeff Demps has gone from being one of the most anticipated players in the NFL to a certified pine pony. Demps first entered the league when he signed with New England in August 2012, but due to uncertainty in the players future the Pats traded him to Tampa in the LeGarrette Blount trade.

Since the trade the 24 year old really hasn't done anything for Tampa. Demps recorded a carry for 14 yards and three receptions for 21 yards out of the backfield in a game against Philly, but other than that… nothing.

“I wish I could tell you right now. I mean, it’s early. But what you do is continue to put players in positions and the ones that make a lot of plays,” Smith said. “I kid the guys always and ask them were they at practice, because if they don’t do anything, it’s hard to kind of notice them. Jeff seems to get noticed just about every day. There’s tough competition there. I like all of our running backs. He brings something a little unique to the position, but we’ll see.”
Demps definitely brings a rare set of raw skills to the football. I mean the guy is the fastest player ever to play in the NFL, but with his inconsistent play and inability to understand professional football we could potentially never see him reach the heights that were anticipated.

Here he is compared to Chris Johnson.
