Tom Brady at top of list of QBs ranked by NFL insiders

After just a month ago claiming that Brady was no longer top 5 in the NFL, ESPN has come to it's senses and realized that Brady is a top 5 quarterback.

ESPN’s Mike Sando asked 26 anonymous NFL insiders (eight general managers, two former GMs, four pro personnel evaluators, seven coordinators, two head coaches, two position coaches and a top executive) to rank the starting quarterbacks in the NFL.

Brady tied for first with Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees. Nothing new there.

One personal evaluator ranked Brady as a tier two QB (he only had Manning in tier one), claiming:
“Brady did a lot of good things with limited resources, but I saw holes when they put the onus on him to carry it all, as you saw when Denver beat him. Brady has to have more of a running game at this stage. He cannot line up with five wides and win it as consistently as before. I still think Brady is a top-five quarterback, but I would not say he is the best right now.”

Well at least this guys thinks he's top 5, which is better than some people (looking at you Sam Monson). I do kind of have to agree with this person, as depressing as it is to say. Brady has become less 'holy' as he's gotten older and no longer can the team rely on just him to win games. And the Patriots have recognized that and now made a real effort to put at least a defense around Brady to help take the pressure off of him. Still up in the air about how this offense will be.

Going into this season, I'll obviously make the argument for Brady being the best QB in the league, but I'd entertain the notion that another QB could be better. Don't worry, Brady will prove himself yet again that he is the best this season when he brings a Super Bowl win back to the Patriots. I'm feeling it baby!

Also, quick note to ESPN: If you are ranking the top QBs in the NFL, the number one spot can't be a tie between the four best QBs in the league. That's not giving a ranking, thats just saying the four best quarterbacks are indeed the four best quarterbacks. PICK ONE GUY!

At least you have Brady back where he belongs: on top.
