Bill Belichick opens up in statement on Logan Mankins trade
The coolest member of the New England Patriots was traded to Tampa Bay today.
Logan Mankins, the Pats' enforcer on the offensive line and all around bad ass, had his nine year Patriots career come to a close today. In a move that was partially performance, partially salary cap motivated, he was sent packing in exchange for Tim Wright and a fourth round pick.
It was a move that would obviously be unpopular, albeit understandable, and coach/GM Bill Belichick had nothing but the highest praise for Mankins in a statement released shortly after the trade was made official.

Belichick calling Mankins the best guard he has ever coached, is high praise. Mankins was certainly the greatest guard in recent Patriots history, and could very well earn himself a spot in the Patriots Hall of Fame when all is said and done.
