Pats tight end DJ Williams on Ray Rice

The Ray Rice suspension has been a hot topic in the NFL, with almost every single person in the world thinking that Roger Goodell shat the bed once more and failed to hand out an appropriate punishment. I obviously agree with this thought. Two games for punching a woman is ridiculous, especially when players are getting far more that for smoking pot and when Stephen A. Smith gets half that for comments suggesting that women should avoid provoking men into assaulting them. IT'S RIDICULOUS!

Patriots tight end DJ Williams grew up in an abusive household and offered his perspective on the NFL's ruling:
I just, my belief is, when it comes to the situation like that, being physical with a female or a woman is just not an option. I understand people are raised different and everyone has their own opinion but that's something I am outspoken about and that's just something I believe in.

I think as men we all have an idea of what's right and what's wrong. We should all hold ourself to a higher expectation. We understand that we live in a fishbowl. Everyone's looking. Everyone's judging. So it's our responsibility to use that platform to set an example."

I could rant about this topic for hours - and trust me, I have - but Williams says it much better. Also, not only are the players of the NFL role models, but the NFL itself is. Handing out a two game suspension, and then going around acting like you're the shit and the long arm of the law, doesn't paint the best picture of your views towards 51% of the population.

There have been few times when I feel embarrassed to support the NFL. This is one of them.
