Peyton Manning adds taunting to his game?

Who would've guessed that Peyton Manning, the Denver Broncos all-pro quarterback, would channel his inner Tom Brady and receive a flag for taunting?

After throwing his second touchdown reception to Emmanuel Sanders during last Saturday’s preseason matchup with the Houston Texans. The Broncos superstar QB proceeded share a few choice words with Houston Texans Saftey, D.J. Swearinger. Inquiring minds certainly want to know what was said during the brief exchange. During his post-game interview, Manning was asked to share what he said. After flashing his patented Peyton face he replied, “I can’t”. If I had to guess it was not words of encouragement or an invitation to grab a Coors (the banquet beer) after the game.

According to an article by Marc Sessler from “Around the League”, the tension started between Denver and Houston during joint practices. Manning kept his cool and composure until D.J. Swearinger delivered a hit to his wide receiver, Wes Welker, causing him to exit last Saturday’s preseason game with his third concussion. The Texans safety tried to plead that the hit was legal. However, the refs saw it differently and flagged him for the illegal hit. It seems as of late that Swearinger is making a name for himself, but for all the wrong reasons. Fans of HBO’s hit series, “Hard Knocks”, may recall Swearinger jawing and being chippy during joint practices with the Atlanta Falcons. If I were D.J., I would let my play do the talking and avoid becoming somebody's target.

Despite this preseason spat and Welker going down with a concussion, it was nice to see a fiery Peyton Manning come to the defense of his players. However, nobody does it quite like Tom Brady.
