Rosters cut to 75: Patriots moves and notes from around the NFL

If you're looking for Logan Mankins news, you won't find it in this article, there are plenty of articles covering that all over the PatriotsLife main page. What I'm going to do is hit on the Patriots cuts/notes, and some quick hits from around the NFL on this busy day.

Ben Bass, Travis Hawkins, Derrick Johnson, Deontae Skinner, Jemea Thomas, and Wilson Van Hooser were amongst today's cuts. The only player that touched PatsLife roster projections was Thomas, and only until the emergence of Malcolm Butler. The rest of these players are unsurprising, and will not be likely candidates for practice squad. If they had that hope for any of these players they likely would've held onto them until the final cut. Cameron Gordon and Tyler Gaffney were placed on IR today, both again unsurprising. Gaffney hitting the IR does free up a spot, and will cause me some headaches come time to make the final roster projection. The addition of Tim Wright didn't effect roster size as they traded some guy, seems like a few people around the internet know him.

Other big news around the NFL

-BC alum and Green Bay Packer B.J. Raji was placed on IR with a bicep injury

-Mike Flacco, the fake sounding brother of Joe Flacco (and Chargers Tight End), surprisingly made the 75 man roster.

-Apparently a defensive player in St. Louis did too, again the internet seems to have a lot to say about this:

Seems like the guy is popular, maybe he'll stick around.

All kidding aside, these are tough days, because each team had to get 15 men off their roster recently, which means 480 men had their season end on IR or their dreams (at least temporarily) dashed with a cut. I don't envy the teams on these days, and a tougher one is coming. Let's see how the tougher days coming get our Patriots down to 53 players.
