Ryan Mallett makes the 53 man roster for Patriots

Perhaps because the Patriots were not ready to rely on rookie Jimmy Garappolo as insurance incase Tom Brady were to get hurt, or perhaps because they are still working on a trade, but Ryan Mallett will not be released.

The final cut has yet to be reported, but it appears the Pats will be keeping three quarterbacks this season.
