Tony Gonzalez says he'd be tempted to come back and play with a contender
Star tight end, and former Falcon,Tony Gonzalez has finally retired and will be manning the pregame shows for CBS this season.
However, he hasn't entirely ruled out a comeback.
ProFootballTalk:
One of those contenders could very well be the New England Patriots, who are currently paper thin at the tight end position behind Rob Gronkowski.
If Gronk gets hurt like he has the past two years, Bill Belichick may just phone up Tony Gonzalez.
While Tony makes a good point that, it would feel a bit cheap to earn a ring after being with a team just six or seven games, it would be a hard deal to turn down.
Athletes are often criticized after their playing days by whether they won a ring or not. Whether that's fair, Tony is currently in the Charles Barkley club, and a call up from the Patriots could give him a great chance to join the Michael Jordans of the world.
Tempting? You bet.

“The temptation would be there, but I don’t know what the gain would be,” Gonzalez said, via Newsday. “I’ve always wanted a ring. That’s been my main goal as a player over the last 15 years of my career. You’re really trying to get that ultimate goal. But I’d be a mercenary to come in and get a Super Bowl ring, play with a team for, what, six, seven weeks? And even if I got the ring, it wouldn’t be the same as going through the fight with the team from the beginning to the end. I don’t think that will happen. The temptation will be there, but I’m 100 percent happy with my decision.”
