Jamie Collins, Ryan Wendell, Michael Buchanan ruled out for tomorrow's game

According to a tweet at this hour from Ben Volin, the aforementioned players will not play in tomorrow's game against the Vikings due to a thigh injury. As Volin alludes to, the loss of the versatile Jamie Collins leaves the team desperately thin at linebacker. They waived linebacker Darius Fleming today and signed Deontae Skinner from the practice squad. PAGING BRANDON SPIKES!

Anticipating the potential absence of Collins tomorrow, Doug Kyed of NESN had this to say of what potential scenario could unfold at the position:

Collins started at inside linebacker last week against the Miami Dolphins and missed just one snap on defense. If he can’t play against the Vikings on Sunday, the Patriots likely will either move Rob Ninkovich to strong-side linebacker in a 4-3 defense or slide Chandler Jones to outside linebacker and Dont’a Hightower inside in a 3-4.

Chandler Jones had a terrible game last week in Miami and the thought of him playing outside of his comfort zone again tomorrow does not sit well.

In addition to Collins, center Ryan Wendell (knee) and defensive end Michael Buchanan (ankle) will not be on the field tomorrow.
