Josh Boyce highlights players signed to practice squad

After releasing 19 players Saturday to get to the required 53 man limit, the Patriots played the waiting game over the weekend to see who would be available for the practice squad.

After all 19 players cleared waivers yesterday, ten were signed to the practice squad.

Josh Boyce is a good signing. It keeps a 4th round draft pick around who hasn't had a chance to really show what he is capable of due to injury. He had a broken toe when he was drafted setting him back in last years training camp. Then a high ankle sprain landed him on injured reserve last year while hamstring issues limited him in this years preseason.

The Practice squad has two line backers who will help with depth seeing as the Patriots are only carrying four total line backers on the active roster.

Probably the most interesting player on the practice squad is LS Charley Huglett. With his signing the practice squad now has more long snappers(one) than the active roster does(zero). Its not clear what Coach Belichick has up his sleeve at that position but it will be interesting to see how it plays out before the Patriots take on the Dolphins to open the season.
