Michael Sam gets a well deserved second chance with America's team
Justjared.com:
“It has all happened so quickly, but it’s exciting, I just wanna get back to playing football you know,” Michael said. “I haven’t had chance to speak to any of my family yet, not even my mom, but I will. I never followed the Cowboys growing up because I never had a team. I am a fan of defenses and Dallas need some help, that’s why I’m going.

By signing Michael Sam to its practice squad today, the Dallas Cowboys got help at a position where it is woefully weak. It had the added benefit of sparing the NFL from intense examination over homophobia just as the season is starting.
Of the past 10 Southeastern Conference football players of the year, 9 went in the first round of the NFL draft. One was the first pick of the second round. Michael Sam of the University of Missouri was the SEC player of the year for 2013, and he went in the 7th round to the St. Louis Rams.
Of the 12 players who had at least 2 1/2 sacks in the preseason this year, 11 had either made a team or were assigned to the practice squad. Michael Sam was the 12th player. His second chance starts today.

Let's hold off breaking out the champagne yet. It still took too long for Sam to make a practice squad and we don't know how long he'll stick. But by taking Sam, Dallas showed that it put winning over some outdated prejudices. It also saved NFL teams from having to address a topic many of them would wish would go away. I never thought I would write this, but: How 'bout them Cowboys!?
Last year, 4 of the 10 practice squad players for the Dallas Cowboys played in an NFL game. I think Michael Sam chose the right team. You don't need to stay tuned. It will be breaking news.
